- set up feeds that collect any entry within a certain topic space (defined by blogroll-distance or something) and filter by just one keyword fi. "social software". probably some keyword that is rather specific.
- watch people use this keyword to get read by people with special thematic interest that are not regular readers
- nice side effect: one post appears in different group blogs additionally to your own blog
- works voluntarily and involuntarily

man kann sich nicht mehr sinnvoll äußern, ohne in konversation mit jemandem zu sein, und sei es deine ungelesene antwort auf einen von dir gelesenen text. natürlich kann man irgendetwas schreiben, was man für richtig hält und von dem man meint, dass es für andere wichtig sein könnte. aber woher soll man wissen, dass nicht jemand anderes das selbe schon viel besser geschrieben hat? google wird hoffentlich nicht dich, sondern den besseren finden. um wertvoll zu sein, musst du etwas schreiben, was besser oder einzigartiger ist als alles andere im internet. Visualizing FOAF data is nice. But there are problems in getting a dense net because people are not used to maintain such data.

The advantage of blogroll data: links to weblogs are just as unique as FOAF files, they identify one person or one source of information. And: it is already there. People are used to link to pages they like and they even call it "blogroll" everywhere. [read more...]

When exploring a topic that is new to me I usually use the internet. I noticed how nice it is to read a name (at least) twice in different places of the overwhelming number of interesting sites. Like a known face in a strange place. And you know this person is probably important for this topic.
Inside a new, interlinked medium like the blogosphere this can easily happen. New means it is still small. Interlinked means you mainly move inside the same medium.

With these technologies you have the choice to have delivered just the content and not the formatting (colors, fonts, etc) to your computer.
With HTML pages you
- have to access each URL yourself, one after the other
- have to accept the design constraints of the information owner. Ie in a forum the owner defines the navigation, usability and accessability of the information that is put down there. He not only owns the content but also its surface.
